After a huge legal battle over who got naming rights, Ramero got "...of the Dead" and Russo got "... of the Living Dead." So basically all the aformentioned movies are sequles of the origional "Night of the living Dead" As for the panty rant about what is should actually be called, you're over thinking it. Though they are similar and by the same director, they're not suppose to be in the same time frame. Think about it like how all the Final Fantasys have nothing to do with one another (except for 2 cases) but are still in the sam franchise.
