What Kind of Zombie Pet Would You Have?

Some movies are starting to entertain the thought of keeping a zombie as pet. The first one I saw was at the end of Shaun of the Dead , where he keeps his best friend, now a zombie, locked in his tool shed. Then when I was browsing a DVD rental store, I saw a whole movie that revolved around the premise, aptly named FIDO .

For a long time, movies, games, and literature have entertained the notion that animals can be infected by a zombie virus. So why not have a zombie parrot for a pet? Could it still “speak”? Would it repeat your moans and groans? How about a zombie pet hamster? Would it crave the flesh of other hamsters, or just have an insatiable desire for hamster food that would cause it to mindlessly kill?

This also assumes that this is a viral zombie and not one created by someone. Now I ask you: if you could create your own zombie pet to do your bidding, what kind of pet would it be? A zombie alligator could be pretty efficient as a killing machine, but how about a zombie puma? Fast, agile, fierce, and completely under your control; it sounds kinda cool, especially if its appetite was for something other than human flesh and brains.

For some reason, I think of zombies as a cannibalistic sort, craving that of its own kind. Some would contend that any living flesh would do, sort of like a vampire craving blood from any living thing. This makes the most sense to me, and it would make the Puma scenario a kind of Little Shop of Horrors situation. I mean, your in control of the thing, you won’t let it attack you, and so you feed it mice, or whatever, until it grows too big for that. Then it’s on to larger things, like house cats and the like. It could get out of hand after awhile.

But you would have a zombie Puma! How fun is that? Especially if you can ride it around town! I think that’s my choice, what’s yours?

  1. snapping turtle, slow enough for me to keep away but fast enough for me to feed other people to it

  2. Well played spiderhead, well played. I’m gonna go with…a zombie duck-billed platypus, but only if it still retains its venomous bite!

  3. I’d have to go with zombie spitting cobra, that way even if it’s food tried to get away it could spit at it from a distance and stop it in its tracks.Of course a pet of this type would require a lot of saftey measures but I think it’s worth it.

  4. I’m thinking a pit bull would make a great zombie pet. If bred to adulthood before its becoming undead, I can only imagine it would be ruthlessly fierce towards others yet insanely protective of its owner.

  5. I already have a Boa named Dyke and it eats living things regularly. So if it turned Undead, nothing would change. Except the fact that if I got bit I’d be screwed rather than just sore and bleeding

  6. I’d have to go with something small so I wouldn’t have to worry about it ripping the shit out of me. I’d go with a Squirrel… I’d Put that lil bastard on a fishing line and let him loose in a Burger King Parking Lot. hehe x]

  7. Zombie gold fish. Guaranteed to keep moving longer then an hour after i bring it home from the fair. Also, no teeth is a plus.

  8. Something about a zombie elephant sounds appealing. Just imagine the possiblities!

But in the aspect of Fido, maybe a couple 3 year olds on a leash. Able to help with the house hold chores and in numbers could take down enemies!

  9. I would choose The Zombie Cheetah.
eventually someone will get infected with their zombie turtle or something, so why not make it interesting?
