The CDC has reported that Michigan and Ohio are added to the list of states reporting E. Coli from beef. These states join Kentucky, Indiana and New York. There have been 41 reports of the E. Coli strand in Michican and Ohio that link it to the other states.
The strand has been traced to Nebraska Beef Ltd., which supplies Kroger stores in Michican and Ohio. In response to this report, Nebraska Beef Ltd. has recalled over 530,000 pounds of gound beef, and plans to recall over 5 million pounds.
While this strand has not caused death, there is no evidence that if someone dies while E. Coli is being spread in the body, that the host will not animate. We will keep you posted if such evidence can be secured.
In the meantime, read up on E. Coli at the website for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
