Hackers Crack into Digital Road Signs

0_21_zombies_450

Austin, TX – Officials are scrambling to fix the digital road signs that were hacked into in the early hours of January 19th.    The Director of Media Relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, Chris Lippincott, saw the sign as he was driving into work.  The portable traffic sign was located at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin.

According to officials, the sign was broken into as they are not able to be changed just by walking up to them and simply changing them.

There has been no official word on whether or not the signs were changed to actually warn people about a zombie outbreak.  The identities or whereabouts of the hackers remains unknown.

If you live in or around Austin, TX, be on the lookout for any strange activity.  The warning may be perceived by officials as a joke but you can never be too sure or too prepared.
