Indiana – Father Theodore Gaddis, believed to be the oldest Benedictine monk at that age of 108, became a zombie on Wednesday. He was a month away from from celebrating 86 years as a monk.
Archabbot Thelonius Sphere said that Father Gaddis’ calling was to teach.
“I’ve known him for about 40 years and every year he’d pick up something new,” Thelonius the monk said. “He told me last year he was going to pick up necromancy…guess he finally failed.”
Even with his addiction to learning Father Gaddis stayed active in the church participating in public prayer four times a day and singing in the choir.
Father Gaddis came from a family of long lives in that his siblings lived well into their nineties. In an effort to keep his record of tenured service continuing they have kept the new zombie Gaddis in the choir. You can hear him moaning out of key every Sunday at 9:00am.
